FireSmart and wildfire clearing in Salmon Arm

Needles on the roof, dead limbs against the siding, and trees tight around the house. Call now.

We clear the dead material and the tight conifers around houses in Salmon Arm and the nearby towns. FireSmart BC is the public guide for the zones and the plant lists. We are not FireSmart-certified. We do the cutting and the hauling. If you want a pile burned, check the burning rules with the BC Wildfire Service first. We do not light a pile on a day the rules say no.

What the zones around a house mean

The first metre and a half around the walls, and under the decks, is where needles, firewood, and dead plants matter most. That strip should not hold fuel against the siding.

Out to about 10 metres, the work is limbing up conifers, taking out dead material, and spacing trees so the crowns are not touching. Farther out, thinning slows a ground fire. It is not clearing the bush to bare dirt. FireSmart BC publishes the distances. We follow that layout when we cut.

What we usually take out

Dead trees, dead lower limbs, and thickets of small conifers against the house. We limb up fir and pine so the green is off the ground. We space trees that have grown into one crown. We move a firewood pile away from the walls when you want it moved.

We leave the trees you want kept, if they are not tight to the house. Tell us which ones. A single hazard tree over the roof is aremoval. A whole overgrown acreage islot clearing. This page is the band around the building.

What you can do yourself

Clean needles out of the gutters and off the roof. Rake needles and dry leaves away from the foundation. Move the firewood off the deck. Cut the long grass that has gone to seed against the siding.

Leave the tall trees, and anything over a power line, to us. Do not cut a limb that is on a wire. Stay back and call BC Hydro at 1-888-769-3766. Do not start a chainsaw on a limb you cannot reach from the ground.

Spring and summer are busy

This work books up from spring through the dry weeks. A cabin that sits empty all winter often has a winter of needles on the roof and brush grown in at the corners. Say if the place is in Salmon Arm, Canoe, or further up the lake. Travel can be part of the price.

Typical ranges are estimates, not a quote for your lot. We look at how much wood is against the house, how steep the ground is, and whether the debris stays or goes. We confirm the price before we start.
